Electrical Design/Senior Engineer - Warwickshire, West Midlands
Our client is a specialist vehicle manufacturer and a leading force in the design and manufacture of 'Specialist Vehicles'. As part of a worldwide group they currently market a diverse and well-respected brand which covers a broad range of equipment.

The Role:

You will be working on updates to our Client's current product.

This will involve working with the current electrical team to design and implement a major update to our Client's Chassis vehicle electrical system.

This work involves the initial development of the vehicle schematics which involves specifying sensors, identifying and designing specific wiring harnesses, interfacing with existing controllers and software.

The role also includes the detail drawing of harnesses and follow up through prototype and pre-series phases.

Occasional overtime and overseas travel may be required.

Supervision of support engineers if and when allocated.

Requirements:

HNC/HND Minimum in Electrical Engineering or the ability to demonstrate the same level of competence.

Member of recognised engineering institution is desirable.

Relevant experience in vehicle electrical system design. This could be in any form of mobile equipment i.e. Off Highway or Heavy / Medium commercial vehicles including buses and vans etc.

You will have a minimum of 3 years' experience, designing electrical systems for vehicles including system architecture schematics and subsequent Harness design, preferably using VeSys.

You will also ideally be conversant with industry standard Can protocol and desirably capable of using Can tools - CANalyser beneficial.

Creation of Technical construction files.

EN954-1 or EN13849 Safety related parts of control systems.

Truck, or related product, design.

C\ Programming

PLC system design, programming (Codesys - IEC61131-3) and commissioning.

Liaison with internal and external suppliers.

Understanding of required quality levels for this type of business.

Word & Excel.

Ability to communicate at all levels in the business.

Well-developed problem solving techniques.

Attention to detail.

Ability to blend engineering and industrial design methodologies.

Industrial design experience.

Working within a team environment.

Willingness to work in a multi-site environment.

Managing personal workloads and time scales against project objectives.

Ability to act on own initiative whilst maintaining the expected courses of action.

Self-starter.

The ability to remain positive and up-beat despite daily business pressures.

Ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
